Do you think she'll run into her brother? Act 2 Scene 2: On the road(Video Summary) + Malvolio delivers a ring to Cesario. + Viola realizes that Olivia has fallen in love with Cesario. Viola pities Olivia, even as she sees the similarities between them: Orphans, dead brothers, and loving someone impossibly. * Viola ends the scene saying Time must solve this love triangle because it is too complex for her to solve alone. How do you think it will be resolved? Act 2 Scene 3: At Lady Olivia's House (Video Summary) + Toby, Andrew and the Fool are having a late night party, with music and wine. + Malvolio comes to shut down the party, but they pay him no heed. + To punish Malvolio for his nosiness and bossiness, Maria comes up with a trick to play on Malvolio. * "Dost thou think, because thou art virtuous, there shall be no more cakes and ale?" Malvolio is trying to make others live by the rules he lives by. Can you think of any modern examples of this? Act 2 Scene 4: Orsino's Palace (Video Summary) + Orsino and Cesario are relaxing at his palace and listen to the Fool playing a song. + Orsino expresses his thoughts on love and relationships. (Orsino's opinions reflect the sexist standards of Elizabethan culture.) + In the end, Orsino sends Cesario again to woo Olivia. * Viola almost reveals to Orsino that she is a woman dressed as a man. Should she have told him? What might of happened if she did? Act 2 Scene 5: Olivia's Garden (Video Summary) + Sir Toby, Sir Andrew and Fabian hide in the garden to watch Malvolio. Maria has dropped a letter to deceive him. + Malvolio wanders the garden daydreaming about marrying Olivia and bossing around Sir Toby. Then he finds the letter. He believes it is from Olivia. The letter contains a riddle and confusing language that seem to imply that Olivia loves someone but can't say who. + Malvolio decides to follow the orders of the letter, dressing out of style, smiling and being mean to servants, to prove to Olivia that he loves her too. * What is your opinion on Maria's trick?
